Privacy

We don't ask for your email, we don't use tracking cookies or analytics, and your birthday never leaves your device. When you send a message, we keep the message and very little else.

What we store when you send a message

Your message
The words you write (up to 400 characters) and the picture you draw, if any.
A name
Only if you sign your message. It can be anything; leave it blank to appear as "Anonymous".
The star
Which star you aimed at, and whether the message is public or private.
The time
When you sent it, so we can show how far it has travelled.
A scrambled IP
A one-way scrambled version of your internet address, used only to stop anyone sending too many messages. We never store the address itself, and we erase even the scrambled version after 30 days.
A delete code
A scrambled copy of the code we show you after sending, so you can delete the message later. We can't read the code back.
Filter results
Whether our spam and safety filter flagged the message, and why.

What we never collect

What stays in your browser

Your last 30 sent messages and their delete codes are saved in your own browser so the "In transit" list can keep counting kilometres. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Public and private messages

Public messages can appear on the public log for anyone to read, after passing our filter or a person's review. Private messages never appear on the log; anyone you give the link to can read them. Please don't put your full name, address, phone number or anything else personal in a message. If you're under 13, please don't use your real name at all.

Who else is involved

The site runs on GoDaddy's web hosting. Like every web host, its servers keep standard access logs, which include internet addresses and the pages requested. We don't use those logs to identify anyone. Our fonts are served from our own server, so your browser doesn't contact Google or any other font service. We don't sell or share what we store.

Delete your message

Messages you sent from this browser have a Delete button in the "In transit" list on the main page. From another device, enter your message's link (or its 10-letter code) and the delete code we showed you after sending. Deleting is permanent.
